Windows 10 November 2021 Update rolling out; a new Windows Media Player; Microsoft admits blocking anything but Edge in Windows

Tuesday, November 16.

Microsoft has started rolling out a new Media Player app for Insiders on the Windows 11 Dev Channel. It is meant to replace Groove Music while the legacy Windows Media Player co-exists.

While Windows 11 might be in the limelight right now, those with PCs that are unable to upgrade to the OS will probably be more interested in Windows 10 version 21H2, which is now rolling out.

Following the block on third-parties to easily switch the default browser in Windows 11, Microsoft has now publicly admitted that its implementation is actually a "fix" for "improper redirection".

Microsoft has rolled out version 0.50.2 of Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) Preview, featuring a logo with a familiar mascot and an updated Linux kernel with lots of features and fixes.

The new WhatsApp for Windows 10 and 11, which was spotted earlier today, can already be downloaded and tried out, if it works. The app is still in beta and is apparently based on the UWP framework.

The Windows 11 Stop error screen, also called BSOD, is Blue Screen of Death once again, since the release of the recent Beta channel Build 22000.346. The firm had temporarily changed it to black.
