Seamus Blackley sorry again for AMD snub; Windows 11 build 22478 in Dev channel; Closer Look: Lock screen in Windows 11

Thursday, October 14.

A new Windows 11 build for the Dev channel is out. Build 22478 brings new Fluent emojis to the OS that was announced earlier, enhancements to improve disk usage, and a ton of bug fixes.

Microsoft hasn't completely flipped the script when describing the lock screen experience in Windows 11. However, the design elements that it has left unchanged are quite infuriating.

20 years after the original Xbox launch, Seamus Blackley, one of the key heads in the project, has apologized to AMD once again for ditching its chips in favor of Intel's Pentium III CPUs.

Start11 continues to see new features that make the Windows 11 taskbar and Start menu suck a bit less. New features in RC2 include hide recently installed apps, 240Hz support and more.

Similar to Valorant's approach, Activision is now bringing in a brand-new anti-cheat solution for its Call of Duty games that contains a kernel-level driver to catch any unauthorized injections.

AIDA64 has confirmed that the massive performance dip on AMD Ryzen CPUs in terms of L3 cache performance on the Windows 11 builds exists even on the newer Zen architectures, like on Zen 3.
